Pierre Barrette was born in Noranda (Qc) in 1969 and holds a bachelor degree in Chemical engineering from the University of Ottawa. He started his 15 year career with Noranda inc at the Horne Smelter in Rouyn-Noranda as a process metallurgist in 1992 and was subsequently promoted general foreman of the Noranda Reactor and Converter.
In 1999, He was promoted as smelter superintendent of the Gaspé Smelter located in Murdochville (Qc) and transferred in 2002 to the Brunswick Smelter located in Belledune (N.-B.) as production superintendent until 2007. Pierre Barrette now holds the position of Surface Operations Manager at Xstrata Nickel’s Raglan mine, located in the Nunavik territory in Northern Québec.
En 1999, il a été promu au poste de surintendant de la fonderie Gaspé située à Murdochville.. Il fut ensuite transféré en 2002 à la fonderie Brunswick située à Belledune au Nouveau-Brunswick où il a occupé le poste de surintendant de production jusqu’en 2007. Pierre Barrette occupe maintenant le poste de Directeur des Opérations de surface à la Mine Raglan d’Xstrata Nickel située au Nunavik dans le nord du Québec.
